Getting Started

Hi, I’m Jen and the owner of Studio1062. My goal is to help you find the most effective solution to fit your budget, even if that means not hiring me. 😉

I focus on personalized user experience design and custom WordPress themes. Each design I build is customized to compliment your business needs.

I also offer expert advice to assist you with site structure, layout, and website usability.

If you want something simple and low cost, Studio 1062 may not be the best fit. I recommend exploring site builders like Squarespace*, Wix*, or Weebly* that offer well built, inexpensive, and quick solutions.

* I am not endorsed by these companies. They are recommended for their ease of use and minimal cost.

The Process

Below is my typical process for a website project.

  1. Intake, Planning, and User Experience (UX) Research
This includes information gathering meetings, market and design research, and sitemap building. Complex projects may need concept sketching, wire-framing, analysis of current analytics, journey mapping, and interactive preliminary mockups.
  2. Website Design & User Interface (UI) Design
This includes conceptualizing a site design and user interface (UI) based on the sitemap, UX research, and project goals. Simple projects will include a header/footer and homepage design. Complex projects may need several design phases and include a full interactive mockup of the site.
  3. Content Writing, Gathering Assets, and Usability Testing
During this phase the writer(s) will produce all the text for the site. This will be assigned to one or more people and may include you, Jen, or a freelance writer. At this time we’ll gather, purchase, or photograph all visuals needed for the website. Then we combined content with the design and get it ready for a final approval. Usability testing can be done at this point also to make sure the design and content make sense together.
  4. Building the Website & New WordPress Theme
Time to build the site! We will build the site structure, develop all custom sections of the site, add content, and build your new WordPress theme to match the approved design.
  5. Finalize the Website & Sign-up for a Maintenance Plan
This includes making sure the final structure is logical, review the completed site, make final adjustments, and launch the website! During this phase you will be required to pay for hosting, purchase a domain name, and sign up for a yearly website maintenance plan.
  6. Website Editor Training & Content Plan
You will be trained and guided through the process of how to update your new website. We will also review a suggested plan for content maintenance and review the benefits of the maintenance plan.
